Madura, Holy Hindu City

Madurai is one of the oldest cities in India. It dates all the way back to the Sangam period of the pre-Christian era. Madurai city has an area of 52 km sq. In Madurai the Tamil language is usually spoken. Its usually dry and hot there.  The city has a population of 928,869 according to the 2001 Indian Census.  Madurai is built around a center point that is the Meenakshi  Sundareswarar Temple. The streets surrounding the temple to symbolize the cosmos. The city as a whole has the shape of lotus. See Madura Video

Taj Mahal

Welcome to one of the Seven Wonders of the World Taj Mahal.  Built by the fifth Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, in 1631 on the banks of the River Yamuna in Agra, India, It stands at about 239 feet and is cited as “the Jewel of Muslim Art in India.”  The construction of the building began in 1631 and was finally completed 22 years later in 1653.  Shah Jahan, the Fifth Emperor of the Empire of Mughal built the Taj Mahal in Memory of his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal.  See Taj Mahal Video
